According to holley they say you can't blow the power valve now so if your car is running rich maybe the carb is too big for the engine or you need to change the jets in the front venturi's to the next smaller size.
Stromberg
the point setting is 17 thousands (.017)
there should be a large vacuum source on the base of the carb. if not you'll need to tee off the one going to the power brake booster.
put a holley on it. its much easier. why would u take the rodchester off anyway? its a better carb if redone rite. you can drill out the rear main needle and seats and put holley parts in it and it will out flow any street carb made.
Yes I have a ss 305 4 barrell carb. 4 speed on the floor
Quadrajets are easy to rebuild for the techs that have done it before, but if you've never rebuilt a carb, I would not start rebuilding a carb for a car that you use. Buy one.
Some of the engine's distinguishing features are 390 cubic inch with 9.6:1 compression ratio, four barrell carb @300 hphttp://www.hiperformer.com/featured_engines/for_390lb.html
Loss of power, smoke, knocking noise, popping noise, backfiring through carb, or out tailpipe. Any, or, all of these.
Usually on valve cover with vac hose to carb.
It's on the valve cover, look for a hose that goes to the carb and the pcv valve just pushes into the valve cover through a rubber grommet. If this is a Pontiac powered Trans Am the PCV valve will be in the valley pan, just under the intake. Should be in front of the carb.
