The 1996 Chevy Astro Van radiator drain plug can be found on the right hand side of the radiator. The drain plug will be near the bottom of the radiator.
At the BOTTOM of the radiator on the drivers side. OR just take the bottom hose off at the radiator.
On the bottom of the radiator. If there is no drain plug, simply remove the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant from the radiator.

To the best of my knowledge and information I have checked out, there should be two Freeze plugs in that location.

It appears that the Ford Aerostar with 3.0 engine does not have a crank position sensor, but the 4.0 engine does have one.

You have connected the wires to the wrong plugs.

Great innovation!! The did not install the plug in the OE model. You will have to pay extra at a service center to get the radiator plug installed. It cost about $5.89 at NAPA and the service charge will be the cost of removing and installing a radiator!

The diagram is in the owners manual. I am having the same problem with my 94 aerostar. I bought my van used and it didn't have the owners manual with it, now if a fuse goes out; I have to buy the manual.
If your van is equipped with rear heater the water pump will have all small holes plugged, only lower radiator hose is attached. The interior heater hose comes from radiator. from: giffen49 1993 Chev G20 350ci

On a 1995 Ford Aerostar : Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator ( I know on the 4.0 liter V6 the hose will connect to a metal pipe that is part of the thermostat housing that is bolted to the front of the engine ) The engine cooling thermostat is inside the housing
There is not drain plug, you need to remove lower rad hose.
