Did you get an answer from another source? My turn signals will neither one work sometimes. But other times they work just fine. I am certain that it is the flasher as the emergency flashers don't work sometimes either. Stiil haven't come up with the location of the flasher though.
The flasher for the 1997 xh falcon is located to the left of the steering column. When you remove the cover to access the fuse box on the right of the steering column the flasher will be visible on the left. ie opposite the in car fuses.

It's located on the left hand side of the fuse block. It's the same part as the hazard flasher. Most vehicles use two different parts. It looks like a three prong relay. Since the fuse block has it's back facing toward the side of the vehicle, the flasher is in front of the fuse block. If you would sit in the driver's seat, it would be directly in front of you under the dashboard.
