Hey Dan==I don't know what kind of solonoid you are talking about but there are a bunch inside the trans. GoodluckJoe No "solenoid" but there is a modulator on the front (radiator side) of the transaxle below the exhaust crossover pipe. It is connected to the vacuum lines and helps smooth shifting. Is that what you meant?
Begin by removing the wiring harness from your 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix transmission pressure solenoid. Remove the solenoid retaining screws. Reverse the process to install your new transmission pressure solenoid.

Dexron III automatic Transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. This can be picked up at almost any general store.
There is no drain plug assuming it is an automatic transmission it is drained when removing the transmission pan and changing the transmission filter.
