The speed sensor is located on the far backside of the transmission. the unit accually threads into the transmission case itself. the unit is very simple to replace once you get under the vehicle. please view my BIO for access to my Saturn help site. under the transmission folder is a picture of the speed sensor in relation to the transmission.

The only engine speed sensor is the pick up plate in the distributor.
Speed sensor is located on the tail of the tranny. On the side near the drive shaft. There is an electric connection that clips onto it and is held in by one 10 mm bolt.
Follow the passenger side axle to the transmission, the sensor is located in housing the axle fits into.

i have a 1996 Mazda protege and it is at the rear of the transmission if you're looking from the front drivers side. it is almost directly under the throttle position sensor which is located on the rear of your throttle body close to the firewall (almost directly in the center of the engine compartment).

I have a 1992 acclaim, the speed sensor is located on the right hand (passenger) axle. Look on the back side of the axle,about 6 " down from the transmission, you see a lump on the housing, with 2 or3 wires leaving the top.
