The starter is located at the front, right of center, nearly at the bottom of the motor, accessed from under the car. It is partialy covered by a plastic splash guard that runs from front to rear. When I replaced the motor (just yesterday; without a manual), here was my general process. 1) Disconnect the battery. I have to remove the two bolts that hold down the body bracket just above the motor to access the battery. 2)I didn't have to raise the car, but it would help if the car is on at least jacks. 3)I removed the plastic splash guard from around the starter (3 screws...one facing front, the other two are behind the cross member that is just under the motor) 4)The starter is held on with just two bolts that face upward. The front bolt is not covered by the plastic splash guard but the rear bolt is accessed only by removing the splash guard. 5)Only after lowering the starter did I remove the wiring, because the nuts attaching the wires to the starter were much more accessible and I could mark where they came from before removing the wires, but there was excessive strain on the wires so some may consider removing the wires before my step 4. On mine there is a bracket attached to the end of the starter and the engine block which also has a bracket bolted to it holding the Power Steering lines. The wires can be removed from the top or the bottom, before removing the starter. Also keep and reinstall any shims that are on top of the starter. The wires are pretty straightforward, one little connection and one big connection, the big one should be removed first, making the little one easy to get to. There should only be one wire on the little connection. and 4 or 5 on the big one.

To change the starter motor on a Chevy Celebrity: 1 Disconnect the battery ground. Use protective gloves. 2. Set the parking brake. Raise the car as required and put on jack stands. 3. Disconnect the wires at the starter solenoid. Take note of where they come off so you can put them back on. 4. If there is a brace from the starter to the block remove it. 5. Take out the two bolts that hold the starter in place, pull the starter out of the bell housing. If there are shims between the starter and the bottom of the engine block save them for use with the replacement starter. Reverse the process to install a replacement starter.
Are you asking about the starter solenoid? If yes it is on the starter. If you are not asking about the starter solenoid what are you asking about?
