From your radiator, follow the upper coolant hose to the engine. The upper hose is connected to a adapter (engine side). Disconnect the upper hose from this adapter, Remove the adapter, the thermostat is inside this adapter.
I have a 95 Grand Am 2.3 liter Quad 4 DOHC and the thermostat is located by the water pump. That's located at the rear of the motor. You should be able to see it if you look down under the exhaust manifold at the rear of the engine. Remove the exhaust manifold. That makes it easier to get at. This engine was designed in such a way that it is not easy to repair yourself. So i have patience. If you are going to replace the thermostat, it is wise to replace the water pump at the same time. This will save you the time and headache of replacing it later. Also replace the exhaust manifold gasket & the exhaust O-ring gasket. Bleed the air out of the lines after u install the thermostat.
