look where the air intake goes to, on the driver side of the block If you have the 2.4L DOHC 4cyl. the thermostat is attached to the water pump, which is located under the exhaust manifold on the side of the engine facing the fire wall. you will have to pull the exhaust manifold in order to change it
The horse power is 175
its under the car on the passenger side on the engine side of the radiator. its a inline thermostat
Front of engine, underneath the intake runners. This is for Quad 4 dohc engine. You can just see it if you remove the rubber hose from the throttle body to the air filter.
The thermostat on the 2.4L is at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. On the v6 it is under the housing where the lower radiator hose attaches.
It depends on the specific engine. At the upper hose is more common, but some are on the lower.
there isn't any, cause that car never existed...commie
From your radiator, follow the upper coolant hose to the engine. The upper hose is connected to a adapter (engine side). Disconnect the upper hose from this adapter, Remove the adapter, the thermostat is inside this adapter. I have a 95 Grand Am 2.3 liter Quad 4 DOHC and the thermostat is located by the water pump. That's located at the rear of the motor. You should be able to see it if you look down under the exhaust manifold at the rear of the engine. Remove the exhaust manifold. That makes it easier to get at. This engine was designed in such a way that it is not easy to repair yourself. So i have patience. If you are going to replace the thermostat, it is wise to replace the water pump at the same time. This will save you the time and headache of replacing it later. Also replace the exhaust manifold gasket & the exhaust O-ring gasket. Bleed the air out of the lines after u install the thermostat. Good luck! :) ~Heidi
Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6
show me the timing marks 2004 pontiac 2.2 dohc
17 city and 26 hwy with the 3.1l v6 15 city and 24 hwy with the 3.4l dohc v6 However, i average about 19 with the 3.4l
When looking at the engine follow the hose off the left side of the rad. At the end of the hose is the t-stat housing......
not with out some modification
Actually the GTP came with the 3.4L DOHC engine which is also Supercharged (not Turbo but it helps) ~NATE NO, 3.4 liter 24 valve dual overhead cam.
On the engine, in the outlet, at the base of the top hose.
Your 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix will experience cylinder misfires when one or several of the spark plug wires are bad. A bad spark plug can also cause the problem.
Look in the manual for the car. If mot a dealersip will know simply call the part department at a GM delaership on the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder the plugs are under the metal cap on top of the engine which has either sohc or dohc on it.. they are on the firewall side once you remove the cap.
If you have a 2.0l dohc, the t-stat should be on the lower rad hose rightin the front of the car behind the fan. It is on the hose closer to the pump.
I assume you are talking about the thermostat that controls the heat temperature that blows into your car. If that's the case, look under your hood, locate the radiator, then along the top of the radiator you should find a black hose. Follow that hose to where it connects close to the engine, there should be a clamp that holds it in place. Drain your radiator first, then disconect the clamp on the hose. Next, where you the hose was connected, that is a gooseneck and it should have two or three bolts that hold it to the engine. You will need to remove these bolts and lift the gooseneck off the engine and there you will find the thermostat. If you have an autozone or a car parts store close to your home, im sure they would gladly show you where it is located. Otherwise, make sure you purchase the thermostat, and most vehicles require a gasket that goes between the goosneck and engine. Make sure to ask the dealer when purchasing these parts. .AnswerOn my 1994 grand am the thermostat is located rear of the engine just below the exhaust manifold. You really have to get your nose in next to the top rear of the engine to see it and its mostly a "let the force guide you" repair. You have to feel for the bolts with your fingers cause you can't see what your doing. AnswerOn my 1996 Grand am GT with the 2.4 DOHC 4cyl. the thermostat is located on the water pump on the side of the engine facing the firewall it is a pain the change. it would probably be easiest to do from underneath
if you follow the lower rad hose, under the engine it connects to a metal pipe which goes up the back of the engine. the thermostat is located in that pipe where it joins to the water pump. I found yhe least frustrating way to change it is to remove the exhaust pipe and manifold, and you will be able to see the housing clearly.
