is located in the passanger side of the engine. almost right above the universal joint that powers the tires/ it's on the bell housing if you open the hood and look close you will see a 2 inch curved handle/ it's verry small to see but if you take your time you will see it. the dipstic itsekf its about 4 inches big If it is manual transmission, the dipstick is on the passenger side. If it is an automatic trans, then the dipstick is on the drivers side, buried under/behind the rubber heater hoses, almost under the master brake cylinder.
I have a 1999 Legacy SUS and my dipstick is located on the driver side of the vehicle directly below some vaccum lines. It is just a few inches from the firewall and you can see the transmission filter clearly. The dipstick's tube enters the transmission right next to the filter.
