The manual transmission on a Jetta does not have a traditional dipstick. The fill plug is located on the left side near the front. If the oil reaches the bottom of the filler plug hole, the oil level is correct.

The transmission dipstick in a 98 BMW 528i is on the driver's side of the transmission pan. Make sure you are parked in a level spot before you check it.

The 98 Cabrio has a sealed transmission, it does not have a dipstick.

You normally fill the transmission by way of the dipstick tube.

In the same place as the dipstick is located. Use a funnel.

On an automatic, the fluid goes down the dipstick tube. On a manual, the fluid goes in the check hole on the side of the transmission.

You do not take it to the shop. It does not have a dipstick I is considered sealed for life

is this an automatic or manual. the manual tranny does not have a dipstick. most of the automatics also do not have a dipstick. if you have a dipstick, it will be easily noticeable on the front of the transmission. to check fluid levels on the non dip stick type. you remove the fill bolt on the transmission and stick your finger in it. if you feel fluid up to the level of that hole, it's full. you have to get under the car to find the fill bolt. it is usually above and behind where the cv axle is inserted in the tranny.

Usually, I would remove the dipstick for the transmission and a funnel that is small enough to fit in there and that's how I add transmission fluid. You have to make sure you add the right amount and use the specified transmission fluid for that car.
