Answer 1988-92 Mazda 626The water pump is connected to the timing belt. Remove AC unit, belt for AC and PS, slide PS hoses toward front of car. Remove the cap on the engine that is connected to the hose trailing to the bottom of radiator. Let water drain from hole in engine. Remove alternator belt(for access to screws). Remove timing belt covers.The bottom section has the gear for the water pump and the two timing belt tensioners. View here
