I'm not aware that part was installed on Villagers. It would be on the EGR valve if it was.
its the DPFE sensor....39.99 at autozone....about 20 minutes to replace...
the dpfe is a small metal box on top of and behind the engine. It should be about 3in. wide by 2in. tall by 1in. deep. It has two screws that hold it on on the left and right side. There are two hoses that connect at the bottom of the sensor and one wire harness that plugs in. To replace, simply pull off the hoses and wire harness and unscrew the screws. When replacing, make sure you put the correct hoses in place (one has a smaller hole than the other). It is best to replace with an OEM part, but cheaper plastic ones can be used, although the don't fit very well.
The speedometer is driven by the vehicle speed sensor. See "Related Questions" below for more about where to find it, and how to replace one.

Here's an answer that was posted at Yahoo.Canada by cgriffin: I have to say it is correct for my 2000 Expedition. THANK YOU cgriffin!! It's a code referring to the DPFE sensor. IT could be that one of the hoses are unplugged or broken or plugged or Egr tube coul be damaged. Find your DPFE(about 1" by 3" little box. May be chrome or black plastic in color) To find it follow your exhaust manifold to the two small tubes that have short black hoses attached. These hoses lead(both of them) to the DPFE. I usually go to AutoZone and look at their parts pictures if I am unsure of what the part looks like that is the "evil do-er" on the OBD code.
It is important to keep up with a vehicle, to find out if there are issues a scanner will read codes. The code P1401 means DPFE Sensor Circuit High.

i need to know where the speed sensor is in my mercury mystique so i can replace it.
Feedback EGR Sensor The DPFE sensor is a ceramic, capacitive type pressure transducer. The sensor outputs a voltage to the PCM in direct proportion to the pressure drop across the orifice in the EGR pipe. In this way the PCM can make an accurate assessment of the gas flow through the tube. Two different sensors are in use, one metal cased and the other plastic. These sensors should not be interchanged - further, some sensors have a modified voltage output.
