Cheetahs are predominantly found in the savannas of Africa and India. The Asiatic cheetah can be found in India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan etc. The African cheetah is found in countries like Kenya, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe etc. Numbers wise, the African species is more populous than its Indian cousin.
There are populations of Cheetahs in Africa and South Western Asia.
They usually live in large open places, like the Savannah and Prairies. Though, I wouldn't be amazed if a few wandered into wooded area's, though I imagine hunting would be hard for them with so many tree's around. :)
