shiites belive in the prophet (pbuhahf) and in his family....whereas sunnis deny the family of Muhammed(pbuhahf) and they wanted to kill Imam Ali (as) because the prophet told everyone that he is the next caliph after he dies...but since the sunnies (abu bakr, uthman and umar) denied it and gave everyone money to follow abu bakr as the next caliph ...but he is only the prophets friend nothing more...whereas Ali (as) is the prophets cousin and son-in-law and th prophet stated that Ali is his bother and he is the next caliph. since abu bakr gave everone money ....only some people took it and belived in him while the rest stayed with Ali (AS) and his family .....so the followers/supporters of ALI are the shiites and the money-hungry followers of abu bakr are the sunnis......thanks for reading! :)

Sunnis are the majority..

Countries with majority of shias include, Iraq,Iran,Azerbejan,Bahrian and Lebenon.
Muslims in world are near 80% sunni and near 20% shia. researchers have counted up to 260 sect for Islam that they all belong to categories Sunni and shia. the main category of Shia is 12 Imami shia and other sects of shia are nearly extincted.

there is at least 300,000,000 shia Muslims in world, but there is no clear stat. shias always have been controlled and killed during history and so usually they hide their beliefs. all 12 Imams of shia have been killed or spent their life in prison by Omayyads and Abbasids.

All Shahs of Iran after the year 800 C.E. were Muslim and All Shahs of Iran after 1550 C.E. were Shiite Muslims.

Are there more shi'ite Muslims or sunni Muslims in Austria?

I would assume there are more Sunni Muslims in Austria than Shia Muslims as in general the split is around 90% Sunni and 10% Shia worldwide. Shia's are mostly found in countries like Iran, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan. So they are a minority sect unlike the Sunni's who are mainstream and represent orthodox Islam.

Can Sunni Muslims have more than one wife?

How were Sufis different from other Muslims?

Sufism is mysticism whereas Sunni and Shiite are orthopractical orthodoxies. It is hard to exactly explain what this means, but probably the best way to imagine it would be that Sufism is like poetry whereas Sunni or Shiite are like instruction manuals. Sufism doesn't have exact rules, is more about emotion than procedure, makes every syllable and motion count, etc. Sunni and Shiite are about form, regimentation, rules, study, and devotion. They are both roads to God through Islam.

Difference between suuni and shiite Muslims?

The core difference between shiite Muslims and sunni Muslims dates back to the moment of the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. This story is rarely recounted, and as a result, there has been growing ignorance within the Muslim community due to the lack of knowledge. The Shiite belief is that before the passing of the Holy Prophet, he had chosen a successor to continue the mission of spreading the word of Islam to his cousin, Imam Ali. This was as commanded by God rather than the Prophet's own will and choice. For this reason, Shiite Muslims believe that the true message of Islam has been sent down through the Prophet's bloodline and close family. On the other hand, it is believed that Sunni Muslims follow the rulings of the close companions of the Prophet. It was decided by the companions that a political vote be held to determine who will lead the Muslim community at the time, in contrast to God's will. Despite this, both Sunni and Shiite Muslims follow the same book, the Holy Quran. I hope this has answered your question :)

Why do Shiite Muslim women have to cover their faces with only the eye region exposed?

All Muslim women are supposed to do so. It is not particular for Shiite. It is worth noting that the wearing of the niqab (which covers the front of the face) is actually more common among Sunni women than Shiite women, if only because of the laws and culture of Iran as compared to Sunni-majority Arabian countries.
