Which religion are Baptist and Methodist denominations a part of?

Both denominations are distinct and self-sustaining. The Baptists originated in Germany and experienced major upheavals after the Reformation commenced. They were in major disagreement with both Martin Luther and John Calvin. One major Baptist group under the leadership of Roger Williams settled in Rhode Island after being thrown out in Massachusetts. Unlike the other Reformation leaders, including John Wesley, they rejected sacraments and ordination of clergy. The Methodists are a direct offshoot of the Church of England and their founders, John and Charles Wesley, were devout Anglican priests and never wanted the Methodist societies in America to break away from the church. It was the British defeat, that led to the creation of the Methodist Church without the support of John Wesley. The Methodist Church still adheres to most Anglican theology and doctrine but worships less formally than the Anglican Church. There is few similiarities between the Baptist and Methodist Churches today. The Baptists are much more conservative in theology and doctrine than the Methodists and do not recognize Holy Communion or Baptism as sacraments. They are of course, christian denominations and are the largest PRotestant denominations in the United States. The Baptists take pride in the fact that they are the only denomination that was not founded by someone like a Martin Luther or John Wesley or even King Henry VIII. They also believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible unlike the United Methodists. They also do not ordain women into their ministry like the Methodists have done for many years now. They are totally oppossed to equal rights for gays and lesbians unlike the Methodists and are opposed to a women's right to an abortion unlike the United Methodist Church. The Methodists are in full communion with the Lutheran and Episcopal churches and reaches out to other denominations as well including the Roman Catholic Church. The Baptist do not believe in ecumenicalism and prefer to stay to themselves. They are highly critical of other denominations including the Methodists and for that reason they don't feel a need to work together or try to merge.
