Kansas, West Virginia, and Nevada all became states between 1861 and 1865, the time of the US Civil War. Kansas actually achieved statehood January 29, 1861 before Fort Sumter was bombarded so, depending on your point of view, it may or may not be counted among the states formed during the War Between the States.
