my grandfather Robert Douglas Trier served in the wild weasle squadron and flew with a man named john pitchford during December of 1965 they were serving in the Vietnam War. There mission?... to expose the crafts to sam radars and then the sites with 22mm guns. As they were flying over north Vietnam there 20th day in flight someone shot them dowm Jhon Pitchfordlanded over to far from my grandfather and was eventully caught the vietnamese and held prisoner for nine years. My grandfather however landed straight in the action while he was exchanging fire with a veitnamese soilderanother one behind him shot him and he was killed.
