Far less emigration to the USA has occured during the last 10 years because Poland is now an EU country so Poles can freely migrate to any other EU country just like British, German and Spanish people can. In the 19th and 20th century many Polish people move to the USA for a brighter future, to make money and start a new life just the same reasons as for British, Irish and German people. Before WW2 and during the Cold War Poles moved to the USA for political freedom.
