Scotland does have minor earthquakes. They have had 10 earthquakes since the 21st of August, with a small swarm occurring on the 21st and 22nd. The largest of these earthquakes was a magnitude 2.9 on the 21st.

The UK as a whole tends to record around 2-300 earthquakes per year.

There was an earthquake in 1508 that could have been as large as a magnitude 7.0 with an epicenter in North West Scotland.

Scotland currently has no dormant or active volcanoes. Most volcanoes and earthquakes occurs at tectonic plate boundaries.

A search of Scotland volcano or Scotland earthquakes will give you lots of information about the history of Scotland's seismic activity.

Ohio was once a hotbed of volcanic activity, back in the Ordovician period. However, there are no current active volcanoes.

Ohio is subject to earthquakes. Again, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has free information for the public on the topic. Find a great map that shows the locations of all the recorded earthquakes in Ohio with their dates and magnitudes at the link below.

Tsunamis are very rare along the U.S. east coast because, unlike the Pacific Ocean, very little of the Atlantic Ocean is bordered by subduction zones. A subduction zone is an area where a plate of oceanic crust slides under another plate and into the mantle. Most tsunamis are triggered by earthquakes at subduction zones.

Where do vocanoes form and why?

Volcanoes usually form between tectonic plates in the earth's crust. Hot molten rock beneath the surface gets pushed up as these plates move, and sometimes large rock formations will form. Volcanoes can form in places that arent on the edge of tectonic plates, however, but the Ring of Fire is where most of the earths volcanoes are concentrated, around the Pacific, North American, and South American plates.
