As per history, Islam began in Mecca, Saudi Arabia when God revealed the Qur'an to the prophet of Islam but....... the Muslim's perspective is completely different, as per Muslim, Islam and quran....Adam, Abraham, Noah, moses, Jesus ( Adam, Ibrahaim, Nuh, moosa,Isa in Arabic respectively) are messengers of Allah and came with the same message of montheism and message of one god and being creator of universe.

This is an excellent question, since even most Muslims do not know the correct full truth about this. In a nutshell, God sent Mohammed because the entire Christian leadership had become "corrupt". Since God had to preserve the mainstream Christian prophecy of the Second Advent to come, God could not simply destroy Christianity. So God sent Mohammed with the crucial internal mission to defeat Christian leaders. But this direction to Mohammed was only temporary.
