∙ 14y agoShe wasnt the next in line to the throne after Elizabeth, but she was close. The reason for this was because she had Tudor blood in her. Her grandmother Margret was the sister of Henry VIII,and the daugher of Henry VII. Also she was married to someone who had strong claims to the throne of England as well. Her husband was her first cousin Henry Steward, Lord Darnley (they had the same grandmother but different grandfathers.) That is why their son James became King after Elizabeth died.
