∙ 13y agoThe Normans Invaded because Edward the confesser(William the Duke of Normandys cousin) was dieing in1065 and said his cousin William could be King, but Harold Godwinson had other plans and decided to take the throne for himself.
This made William angry as he had been promised the throne, so he decided to conquer England with his army which he had collected from other barons in Normandy.

∙ 13y agoThe Normans invaded England in 1066 as earlier on Harold (the man who was going to be king when the previous one died) was having a battle with Scottland and Scottland were winning so he fled to France. Then the France leader William made a deal with him that William would go and kill the Scottish army and send Harold home. however Harold had to promise him one thing, that William would be king the king of England when the previous one died. So then the day when the old king of England died Harold went back on his deal and William saw Harold's' crowning of King as a declaration of war, and then he invaded in September 1066. hope that helped :)

∙ 14y agoWilliam laid claim to the English throne after Edward died. He was a distant cousin of Edward and said that Edward had promised him the throne when visiting France in 1051. He even said his claim had been accepted by Harold Godwinson in 1064, when Harold had been blown onto the Norman shore by a storm. William invaded England to become King and claim the throne from Harold. Also the Normans Invaded because Edward the confessor(William the Duke of Normandy's cousin) was dieing in1065 and said his cousin William could be King, but on his deathbed Edward changed his mind and told Harold(the second most powerful) he would be king. So William took this as an insulte and invaded England. He also wanted more land. .

∙ 13y agoThey wanted to steal Anglo-Saxon resources. And then collect taxes from the English to fund their conflicts with the French King. England was a very wealthy state and William was a cash strapped French vassal. Becoming King of England turned the tables in his disputes with the French King.
