Answer 1

Their army was probably better. At that time the Americas didn't have much, so the result was them loosing.

Answer 2

Spain succeeded in conquering so much of the Americas because they used their religion as a main belief, the spread of European diseases weakened the Americas conquests, the Spanish soldiers and sailors had excellent fighting skills and used advanced weapons on the Native American armies, and lastly, Spain made alliances with the Native Americans, the enemies of the Incas and Aztecs.

The Spanish were able to conquer a significant portion of the Americas for four main reason:

1) Arrived First: The Spaniards were the first to arrive in the New World and this prevented the other European powers from staking larger claims, even though they were roughly equivalent in terms of power. As a result, Spaniards able to field more explorers, more quickly, to more places. The Spaniards were also supremely motivated by faith and glory in a way that the French, English, and Dutch were far less motivated.

2) Diseases: The Spaniards brought terrible diseases in their wake which annihilated the native populations in advance of their arrival. Current estimates hold that the diseases brought to the Americas eliminated over 70% of the indigenous population, crushing resistance before weapons were ever drawn.

3) Weapons: The use of horses, metal, and primitive firearms were more powerful than anything the indigenous population could bring to bear. The surprising effect of these weapons and technologies eroded with time so that within a few centuries, most indigenous populations had integrated European technologies into their defenses, but since the Spaniards conquered most of their territory while this technology was still surprising, they were victorious. (Spaniards eventually did have trouble when extending their control into northern Mexico, the southwest USA, and Patagonia in the 1700s and 1800s for exactly these reasons.)

4) Conquered Large Empires: By luck, the Spaniards found the Aztec and Inca Empires, which already controlled large swathes of territory. For example, the Inca Empire controlled more territory than any European state of the time. Therefore, when Spain conquered these two empires, they gained the massive infrastructure to control all of the same territories that these empires already had.

How did Henry the viii impact America?

Not at all. The United States of America did not exist as such during Henry's reign. Actually, Columbus discovered the Americas before Henry the VIII was born so there was an America. There just was not the "United States of" America. So his reign did have an impact on the Americas but not much is written about that part of history. He had to try to keep up with Spain and France. Henry's England was not prosperous enough to explore during the time that Spain and France established the Americas. One source said King Henry VIII started establishments on the east coast. However, there is not much information on colonies by England until Elizabeth I.

Why would Spain and Ukraine tend not to share elements of history and culture as much as Spain and Portugal do?

If you look at a map, you will notice that Spain and Ukraine are much further from each other than Portugal and Spain, which are right next to each other. Due to their geographical proximity, Spain and Portugal share a great deal of history, climate, and culture. Ukraine has much more in common with other post-Soviet states.

Why was Spain able to control so much of the world?

Spain was the first European country to explore the Americas. Spanish conquistadors were sent to the New World with much better military technology than that which was available to the local inhabitants. Colonists were drawn to the Americas by the promise of vast riches and the prospect of winning new souls for God. The Spanish Monarchy was able to control the Spanish settlers through a system of viceroyalties and audencias (royal courts of appeals).
