Germany, Japan, and Italy were allies of each other. All 3 wanted to improve their nation. Germany wanted to make a master race and invaded Poland, France, USSR and rounded up Jews, Communists, Homosexuals, etc and put them in concentration camps. (Holocaust). Japan wanted to expand its empire by invading Manchuria and China. Italy wanted to make a new Roman Empire and invaded Ethiopia, Albania, and Libya. Note- this is mostly all pre-ww2 facts, after Germany invaded Poland, France and Britain declared war on Germany starting WW2.
Instead of giving you some pseudo-intellectual answer often provided by self-proclaimed experts on European history or international relations, let me keep it simple and accurate:
Germany's leader, Adolf Hitler, was evil and implemented his plans for world conquest. The German people followed him into war. Most agreed with his resentment, anger & hatred, and enough of them agreed to do whatever it took to fulfill Hitler's vision for new Germany. Hitler wrote two books about his vision for the future. The first book written in 1924 was titled 'Mein Kampf' (My fight) and was published before he became Germany's dictator. The second book or manuscript was written in 1928 but never published, and remained unread by the public until after the Second World War. It was discovered in 1958 by Gerhard L. Weinberg. Weinberg is a noted historian of this period and has written an excellent account of Hitler's motivations & vision and the resulting war of aggression by Germany. Please read his outstanding book 'A World at Arms'.
