It was so the people would not go through what they went through with Britain again, which was a corupt government. The colonies had no say in the government before and they had barely any rights. They did not want to give all of the power to the central government. So, instead they made congress have little power and gave most power to the state's government. This made Congress not be able to make money and control the states. They couldn't even demand money or make taxes on the states because they had no demand on the states. This led to contraversy, because the people started to understand that they could not live like this.

Because then it would be called a Dictatorship and tgey had just exscaped that and fought the revolutionary war so they were free
