1773 Act that gave a monopoly on tea sales to the East India Company. In other words, American colonists could buy no tea unless it came from that company. Why? Well, the East Indian Company wasn't doing so well, and the British wanted to give it some more business. The Tea Act lowered the price on this East India tea so much that it was way below tea from other suppliers. But the American colonists saw this law as yet another means of "taxation without representation" because it meant that they couldn't buy tea from anyone else (including other colonial merchants) without spending a lot more money. Their response was to refuse to unload the tea from the ships. This was the situation in Boston that led to the Boston Tea Party.
The Tea Act, passed by Parliament in May of 1773, would launch the final spark to the revolutionary movement in Boston. The act was not intended to raise revenue in the American colonies, and in fact imposed no new taxes. It was designed to prop up the East India Company which was floundering financially and burdened with eighteen million pounds of unsold tea. This tea was to be shipped directly to the colonies, and sold at a bargain price. The Townshend Duties were still in place, however, and the radical leaders in America found reason to believe that this act was a maneuver to buy popular support for the taxes already in force. The direct sale of tea, via British agents, would also have undercut the business of local merchants.
Colonists in Philadelphia and New York turned the tea ships back to Britain. In Charleston the cargo was left to rot on the docks. In Boston the Royal Governor was stubborn & held the ships in port, where the colonists would not allow them to unload. Cargoes of tea filled the harbor, and the British ship's crews were stalled in Boston looking for work and often finding trouble. This situation lead to the Boston Tea Party and let people drink tea.
The British Parliament agreed to pass the Tea Act in 1773 because the East India Company offered Parliament a deal: if the Company were allowed to sell its tea directly to the colonies, it could charge low prices and still make a profit. Cheaper tea might also lead to less smuggling and the collection of more money in taxes.
The Tea Act placed another tax on tea, and gave its parent company a tax break. The colonists were already feeling controlled and burdened by the British, and this was essentially the last straw.
the tea act of 1773 was passed by england to save the east india company from bankrupy. they put taxes on tea and the colonist didnt like it. so on december 16, 1773 the boston tea party happens. colonist dressed up as mohawk indians and dumped the tea into the boston harbor. the boston harbor closed until the tea was repaid which was the intolorable act caused by the tea party.
The British government agreed to allow the company exclusive right to sell the tea in the American colonies. The tea would be cheaper than the Dutch tea the Americans had been smuggling in since the Townshend Acts. Prime Minister North did away with all taxes on the tea except the Townshend levy, which was very small. Sam Adams and the Americans who wanted to uphold the principle, "no taxation without representation," knew that the tea would be purchased by colonial consumers if it were permitted to enter the harbors, be unloaded, and distributed to the stores. The result was a boycott of the tea being shipped into the colonies and the famous Boston Tea Party.
The Tea Act was important because it represented taxation without representation for the colonists and sparked the American Revolution.
Parliament passed the tea act to make sure that no tea was thrown overboard. I am not sure of this answer so do not take this in mind
Because they spent a lot of money on the war against France so they needed lots of money quickly. So Britain started the tea act because all of the colonists loved tea.

i dont really know, but here are some of the things: paper, lead, paint, tea, and paper -Edit by Wesalicious- Look up: Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Tea Act, Intolerable Acts.
The Tea act happened because of Britain needing money to pay for the French & Indian war. They taxed colonists and when they refused to pay, Britain ran out of money. So when the king's close friend in the British East India Company said he was overstocked with tea. The King bought this tea hoping to sell it to the colonist for very cheap but taxing it. This act put many importers out of business so the colonists got mad. They stole tea from one of the boats, and dumped it into the harbor as a political movement to show the British that the don't need them. Hope this helps :)
The Intolerable Acts
the british acts were: navagation acts the proclimation of 1763 sugar act(1764) quartering act(1765) stamp act(1765) townshend acts(1767) tea act(1773) intolerable acts(1774)
The Sugar Act was enacted in order to prevent smuggling in the colonies. The British wanted the colonies to purchase goods only from Britain. The Tea Act was a lower in prices of tea from the British East India Company. the British enacted the Tea Act because their tea was too expensive and they couldn't sell. With a lower price, colonists began to buy the British tea. Colonial merchants were angry because their tea wouldn't sell to the colonists since the British tea had a lowered price. The Tea Act led to the Boston Tea Party where colonial merchants protested about British tea and threw crates of them into Boston harbor.
The tea act(act that made tea have taxes) caused the Boston Tea Party(hundreds of colonists throw British tea into the ocean.)
I believe it was to be able to sell tea.
No, they boycotted British tea
The Boston Tea Party was an act to boycott British tea.
The Tea Act of 1773 gave British tea companies a hegemony over all the American tea trade. The Tea Act was created to provide protection for the British East India Tea Company, which was struggling against competition, as well as a way to tax the colonists.
the british made them pay for all the destroyed tea
The Tea Act LOWERED the cost of the British tea tax and the British did it to make the tea more competitive against the tea that was being smuggled in from Holland by American smugglers. The smugglers were upset to see that they would loose business and it had nothing to do with taxes.
they made plastics
The British reacted by closing the Boston Harbor so anyone and anything could not get out or in.
The tea act was the act of the American colonists rebelling against the British for taxation without representation on tea, it was also an act of freedom from Britain.
i considere this act so stupid and selfish from the british
