It is in large measure due to the bloodbath between Germany and the USSR that the allies were able to win WWII. For the sake of argument if the USSR were neutral the defeat of Germany would have taken much longer and entailed a much greater US effort.

The Soviet Union had no interest in a war with Germany and did everything possible to avoid War. Bare in mind that WWII was already well underway when the the Soviet Union got involved. The Soviets had negotiated a Non Agression Pact (Treaty) with Germany prior to the War. Included in the Non agression pact was a mutual promise agreement that Germany nor the Soviet Union would make War with or intervene in the affairs of the other.

The Soviets were forced into the War when Hitler violated the treaty by attacking and invading the Soviet Union. As a Result, When the soviets declared war against Germany, they were actually already at War with Germany. So the official declaration of War with Germany was really only a formality.

Because the Germans were trying to defeat Russia as well as Europe and Russia was doing everything they could just to prevent their destruction. It's part of the old saying, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." All of the Allies were trying to defeat the same Enemy.

Nazi Germany was growing and countries like Britain and France new this. But the war started when Hitler crossed the border into Poland. France and Britain both declared war after this as well as other countries. Most likely the main idea that the allies fought in World War 2 wad for freedom. Would they rather have the Nazi's take over the world or for every country to live freely.
because if they didn't, then Hitler would've taken over the world

They didn't, until Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941. After that it was a case of "your enemy is my enemy so you are my friend, (but only until our enemy is defeated)".
