Why do I get spark only when returning key to run position on 1993 Ford Taurus not in start position?

Hello. I posted this ?. I found that when I checked the coil voltage in the start position, there was none. So I jumped the coil to the battery and the car started and ran in the run position without the jumper wire. There me be a bad wire somewhere. I installed a momentary switch to the coil for starting. Still curious about whats really wrong. Hope this will someday help someone else...
