There are many things in life that are easy, effortless and natural. These would include walking, speaking, sleeping, running etc. Yet all of us need training and coaching in these areas. Parents teach their children to walk, speak etc. Those with sleeping difficulties get therapy. Those that want to excel in running get lessons and coaching. In an enlightened society meditation is also taught by parent to their children. However, in today's material world few parents are not experts in Transcendental Meditation and cannot teach it to their children. This is true even in India where Transcendental Meditation has its roots. So we must enroll in a course and get proper training from a certified Transcendental Meditation teacher. Because these teachers teach meditation as an occupation they must be compensated so they can buy food and pay rent just like any other professional who has invested thousands of dollars in extensive training and certifications programs.

Why does transcendental meditation have to be taught by a teacher?

When a person learns the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique they are instructed by a certified TM teacher and they get lots of personal, one on one, attention. This is really valuable because everyone is different and learns at their own pace. An experienced TM teacher can guide you through every step and assure that you learn the technique correctly and gain all of the benefit. Many people wonder: why can't I learn Transcendental Meditation from a book or a CD? Well imagine trying to learn a golf swing from just a verbal description in a book or on a recording. It just doesn't work. In fact you could develop bad habits that would hurt your golf game and be difficult to correct later. But a one on one session with a golf pro, well now you're learning! A teacher gives you feedback at each step so you can correct yourself and maximize the learning process. At the same time getting feedback when you practice correctly also helps you to grow in confidence and then meditate successfully on your own at home. The TM technique is unique among the many forms of meditation available today. It's natural, effortless and anyone can learn. It does not involve any kind of concentration, lifestyle or belief. But it is a delicate process so learning from a TM teacher is crucial. It's a lot easier than playing the guitar or perfecting your golf swing, but at the same time requires that same kind of personalized guidance.Transcendental Meditation (www.tm.org) differs from other meditation methods in that it teaches the mind to move beyond thinking to the source of thought, pure consciousness. To learn the Transcendental Mediation technique, I suggest you contact your local TM center (or call 888-LEARN-TM) and speak to a certified meditation instructor. Learn about the seven-step, 10-12 hours of training you get during the TM course and the careful personalized instruction you receive. Learn about the one-on-one follow-up-a lifetime of personal guidance, as needed-and the optional, ongoing advanced classes and group meditations at TM centers. Maharishi created a wealth of knowledge and clarification to ensure that your understanding can grow as your experience deepens. All of this follow-up is available to you for the rest of your life when you learn the TM technique-at no further charge after you've completed the initial seven-step course. And learn about the gift of scholarships and grants for people in financial need, to help pay for such comprehensive training. There is significant financial help available so that everyone who wants to can learn The Transcendental Meditation Technique.Maharishi, the founder of the TM program, spent over 50 years elucidating the principles behind the Transcendental Meditation technique, always emphasizing the need for personal, one-on-one instruction:"By necessity, the practice of Transcendental Meditation is imparted by personal instruction. It cannot be done through a book [or CD or online training] because it not only involves telling an aspirant how to experience the subtle states of thinking, but an even greater responsibility lies in finding out what the aspirant experiences when he proceeds on that path… The experiences on the path of Transcendental Meditation are very subtle… It takes a while for the beginner to be able to pinpoint his experiences of the subtle state of thought. The practice of Transcendental Meditation must always be given by the expert teachers of Transcendental Meditation who have been properly trained to give it and who have been trained to check the experiences."The checking of experiences is a vital point in the practice of Transcendental Meditation. Again, it cannot be done through books…by nature it is delicate and therefore highly technical. But under personal instruction and guidance the way is smooth and easy." [Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, The Science of Being and Art of Living (New York: Plume/Penguine Group, 1963/2001), p. 35-36]It is important to note that there are alternatives to Transcendental Meditation for those who cannot afford it or believe it is religious. An example is NSR Meditation (www.nsrusa.org), which is different from TM and can indeed be learned successfully by anyone from a manual. TM and NSR are taught by two different but nonprofit organizations.

What are good oils for meditation?

Meditation is not a question of what oils, clothes, scents, or music you use. Being free from distraction is the "aid" you want to employ. Consider that all the aids which stimulate your senses pull you back into the physical world where you are now - they are just more things to not pay attention to.

How do you spell meditate?

Edit with the Do HOW TO MEDITATE: SIMPLE MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS Meditation is a method of training the mind, analogous to how fitness is a method of training the body. However, there are several meditation techniques to choose from, so how do you learn to meditate? For a beginner, sitting for hours and thinking of nothing or having a "empty mind" is extremely difficult. When you're just learning how to meditate, we have some tools to help you along the way, such as a beginner meditation DVD or a brain-sensing headband. In general, focusing on the breath is the simplest way to begin meditating. CONCENTRATION MEDITATION Concentration meditation entails concentrating solely on one point. Following the breath, repeating a single word or mantra, staring at a candle flame, listening to a repetitive gong, or counting beads on a mala are all examples of meditation techniques. Because concentrating the mind is difficult, a beginner may begin by meditating for only a few minutes and gradually increase the length of time. When you notice your mind wandering in this type of meditation, simply refocus your consciousness on the chosen object of attention. You let go of random ideas rather than chasing them. Through this process, your ability to concentrate improves. MINDFULNESS MEDITATION The practitioner of mindfulness meditation is encouraged to observe wandering thoughts as they pass through the mind. The goal isn't to get caught up in the thoughts or to pass judgement on them; rather, it's to be aware of each mental note as it emerges. You can see how your thoughts and emotions tend to move in certain patterns when you meditate using mindfulness meditation. You should become more aware of the human propensity to categorise experiences as good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, over time. Inner balance builds with practise. Students in some meditation schools combine concentration and mindfulness exercises. Many disciplines require stillness — to varying degrees, depending on the instructor. SOME OTHER MEDITATION TECHNIQUES There are a variety of other meditation techniques to choose from. Buddhist monks, for example, focus their daily meditation practise on the cultivation of compassion. This entails visualising negative events and recasting them in a positive light by using compassion to transform them. Moving meditation techniques such as tai chi, qigong, and walking meditation are also available. BENEFITS OF MEDITATION Relaxation is often a side effect of meditation, even though it isn't the goal. After conducting research on individuals who practised transcendental meditation in the 1970s, Herbert Benson, MD, a researcher at Harvard University Medical School, coined the phrase "relaxation response." Since then, research on the relaxation response has revealed the following short-term nervous system benefits: Reduce your blood pressure. Blood circulation is improved. Reduced heart rate Perspiration is reduced. Slower breathing rate Anxiety is reduced. Reduced cortisol levels in the blood More feelings of happiness Stress is reduced. Relaxation that is more intense Researchers are now looking into whether a regular meditation practise has long-term benefits, and they're finding that meditators have improved brain and immune function. However, it's worth noting that the goal of meditation isn't to reap benefits. Meditation's goal, to use the words of an Eastern philosopher, is "no goal." It's as simple as being present. The ultimate benefit of meditation, according to Buddhist philosophy, is the liberation of the mind from attachment to things it can't control, such as external conditions or strong internal emotions. Instead of following wishes or clinging to experiences, the liberated or "enlightened" practitioner retains a calm mind and sense of inner harmony. HOW TO MEDITATE SIMPLE STEPS FOR MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS This meditation exercise is a great way to get started with meditation. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You may want to consider purchasing a meditation chair or cushion. Close your eyes for a moment. If you're lying down, try one of our Cooling Eye Masks or Restorative Eye Pillows. Make no attempt to control your breathing; just let it happen naturally. Concentrate on the breath and the movement of the body with each inhalation and exhalation. As you breathe, pay attention to how your body moves. Pay attention to your chest, neck, rib cage, and belly button. Simply concentrate on your breathing without attempting to control its rate or intensity. Return your attention to your breath if your mind wanders. Want to Learn More? Full form of SI in banking sector?

In the banking industry, SI means Standing Instruction. Let us say you need to pay your home rent every month on the 5th and you know your home owners bank account number. You can sign up for a Standing Instruction so that on the 5th of every month, the bank will automatically pick up the rent amount from your bank account and pay it into your home owners account.
