I got no responses, but the answer ended up being the battery. Yesterday the original battery died, and the installation of a new battery solved the problem--the idle is now as it should be without surges or jumps.
The sensor for the engine coolant on a 1991 Ford Probe LX is inside of the coolant tank. There is a lever, and when the fluid gets below this lever, it signals to be checked. It should be refilled.
Why is the electric coolant fan in your 1989 Oldsmobile cutlass cierra not working?
I had this problem in the past, I believe the sensor on the fluid bottle has stop working or the connection maybe corroded and it may need cleaning. I do hope this hepls your problem. Nibbs
Either the reservoir is low or the sensor is bad.
Check the coolant pressure. If the pressure is too high the A/C clutch will not engage. If the pressure is within tolerance, test the A/C compressor and clutch.
Yes
No, the electric cooling fans turn on and off by a signal from the coolant temp sensor. The coolant level sensor only illuminates the low coolant light when you are low on coolant.
Check to see if you really have a leak or just loss of fluid due to evaporation. Place some cardboard under your car overnight and see if you have any wetness or signs of dripping, after, of course, you have first refilled your coolant system.
where is the fuse located for electric engine coolant fan on picasso petrol 1.6l
fan clutch?
The Pontiac Montana engine will overheat if the coolant gets low and is not refilled properly. If coolant is added, an air block WILL OCCUR preventing proper circulation unless owners manual is followed. There are 2 blleeder valves in coolant system. They must be opened & closed in proper sequence (see manual) or engine will overheat. I know-been there! The radiator on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix is flushed by draining the coolant, filling the system with water, adding a liquid flush to the system, and running it for a few minutes. The system is then drained, flushed with fresh water, and refilled with coolant.
