Why does 95 240sx transmission tap out at 5000rpms when its sapposed to go to 6500rpms?

i dont know if youre pushing it as far as possible but when im running my 1995 automatic it even gets 1 or 2 hundred rpm's into redline before it shifts. but none the less the ka24de stops producing inteligent horsepower at about five thousand rpm's it doesnt like breathing in the high rpm's
