I was hoping someone would ask me that. I have a 96 mark viii - i bought it for $1500 (Awesome condition everything worked perfect.) After about 8 months of racing random cars everyday, the car would shake violently in and out of gears - and eventually drive turned into neutral. You MAY have a linkage problem, but not likely with a mark viii as it is not a common problem. If your car goes into reverse and moves but does not in drive - then your transmission is no good. I did this with mine (found out later that the one i had was not original). Check out question "How to change transmission in mark 8" describes how it is done exactly.
If it won't shift in all the gears.
You need to remove the front drive line, remove the encoder motor assy. On the bench remove the motor and plate together to expose the gears, mark the gears with a sharpy and remove the big gear, the sensor is on the bottom. plug in new sensor and reverse to assemble.
Look to the far left drivers side pedal area and there is a small pedal which is the parking brake which releases when you put the shifter in drive or reverse.
the Lincoln mark viii is rear wheel drive and the conti is front wheel drive so to answer your question... no they will not interchange, but many engine parts will
Possibly tappets.
2008 Red Lincoln Mark LT
Tie rod, ball joint or Strut.
It's rear wheel drive
on the transmission also called a mlpl switch
yes because i have a 1914 penny with the Lincoln memorial on the reverse side of penny there is no mint mark on it .
Typical U-Joint noise. Makes noise in reverse but not in drive. Check both front and rear U-joints of the drive shaft. If one is bad replace both. You do not want to go through R&R of the drive shaft twice.
Mark where the wires go, disconnect the wire connector, remove 4 screws and remove. Reverse the procedure to install.
