This is a manual transmission car, I presume. If it's an auto, you have a big problem!
Grinding could mean that something inside the transmission is failing. Or it could mean
that your Transmission Fluid is low. OR, it could mean that your clutch is worn or is out of adjustment. Grinding usually means that the clutch is not disengaging properly when you push the clutch pedal, or perhaps, a synchronizer has failed.
Whatever the case, If I were you, I'd get the car to my mechanic and have her looked at.
shift to nutral, then move lever to reverse
2003 Honda 450 es Forman will not shift into reverse?
reverse gear does not work off a solenoid do you have 2nd and 4th gear or just rev missing
clutch is worn out
Does it grind or is nothing there? if it grinds, the shift rail is probably broke or a syncronizer is bad. If theres nothing there, the gear has failed. Either way, it's gotta come out.
Check the fluid level. If the fluid level is OK, put the van in reverse on a parking lot and drive it around in reverse. Then try it to see if it will shift into 2nd. If it does shift then, it may be just a clogged filter. If it still will not shift into 2nd you may have to take it over to Cottman and have them check it out.
Top of the transmission.. on a manual shift, it should be just behind and to the left of the shift column.
bad transmission
cuz it wont silly!
if u keep your foot on the gas a little it will grind till u come to a complete stop then it will go into gear smoothly not coming to a complete stop before shifting out of reverse
where is the reverse light switch located on a 2002 jetta with a stick shift
car will jerk forward and then go in reverse
