My Tail lights work but when i put foot on brake why does driver side brake-light not work?
When Only One Brake Light Does Not Work The fact that your passenger side brake light IS working is good news. That means that the brake light circuit is working [fuse, brake light switch, wiring to the back of the vehicle, etc.]. Because the rest of the system works when the driver's side doesn't tell us that the problem is between the point in the wiring harness where the harness "splits" to go to the left and right brake light assemblies, AND that the problem is IN that left side. Without doing a "hands-on troubleshooting" of your vehicle no one can precisely tell you what the defect is. You will need to check that portion of the wiring system and find/identify the fault, and repair it. There could be several causes for this and here are the ones that come to my mind at the moment: 1. The filament in the left brake light bulb has burned out and the bulb needs to be replaced, 2. One of the inline connectors to the left brake light assembly has become disconnected, loose, or the connector internal metal contacts corroded, 3. Water, and thus corrosion has gotten into the bulb socket, and has created an open circuit conditon for just the left brake light contacts. 4. The wire to the left brake light has been cut or broken. There may be other causes but these are the ones that come to mind at this moment.

1998 dodge ram 1500 with van off i press on the brakes and dash light comes on and with light on i dont get any left signal only with lights off what could be the problem?
It seems you have two problems here. If you press the brake pedal and the brake light on the dash luminates, you have a brake problem or the fluid level is low. The other problem seems to be the blinker light on the left side is not working or the blinking tail light on the same side is out. It's more than likely the latter. Good luck!

If a 1991 Nissan brake light inside the car comes on but turns off after 20 plus minutes do you need new brakes or brake light sensor?
The brake light, a red light shaped like a headlight on the dash means that one or more exterior lights are not working. It could be a taillight, brake light, side marker, license plate light, or third brake light. It stays on all the time if it's a side marker or any light besides the brake light. If it's the brake or third brake light it will come on only when you press the brake pedal.

What do the colored wires mean on a 2001 sunfire tail light?
According to my Haynes manual, Black on both sides is ground On the right (passenger) side, Dark Green is the brake light/turn signal and Brown is the tail light. On the left side, Yellow is the brake light/turn signal and Brown is the tail light The center brake light should have a White wire (12v+) and a black ground. FriPilot

Why when you apply the brakes with the headlights on would the brake lights go out on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
I had this same issue on a 2000 model. After checking voltages at the rear lamps with no differences between the two sides, I then swapped the two brake light asseblies. The right side was not working when the lights were on and the brakes were applied, it still did not work when plugged into the left side, but my left side still worked when plugged into the right side. So, that left only the brake light assembly to be faulty. I ordered one off of Ebay, and replaced it with no other problems, except the left went out a few months later!! Try swapping the two asseblies and see if you get the same results.
