the octane is higher, in the long run it is cheaper also.the engine runs more efficiently and cleaner extending the life of the engine

The Owners Manual specifically calls for regular, 87 octane fuel. No premium needed.

On a side note, many experts strongly discourage the use of premium octane fuels except when the manufacturer requires it.

Probably not, a 2001 Windstar usually has hydraulic lifters that never need adjusting it could be a bad valve spring, or a bad lifter that will need to be replaced.

if you have a turbo engine you need premium gas, look inside your gas tank door and it will tell you what octane your car requires.

On what Vortec engine you are talking about. The vast majority do not require the use of Premium fuel. Use exactly what your owner's manual lists. Using Premium in an engine designed to run on Regular is a waste of money and provides no benefit whatsoever. No more power, no better mileage, nothing! Anyone who tells you different is buying into the myth, and that is all it is, a Myth. But if the engine requires Premium then use Premium. Using Regular in an engine designed for premium will cause engine damage due to what is commonly called pinging. On what Vortec engine you are talking about. If your check engine light is blinking with the engine running that means an engine cylinder misfire has been detected . You will need to have your Ford Windstar scanned for any trouble codes to help diagnose and then repair the problem . You can drive it in to have it repaired , just drive in a moderate fashion ( avoid any rapid acceleration or deceleration because you can damage the catalytic converter )

Yes. All Unleaded Gasoline Mercedes Benz vehicles require Premium (91 Octane and above) Gasoline. Do not use anything other than Premium Gasoline. Lower grade gasoline can harm the engine.
