Does your rotor squeek all the time, intermitantly, or only when braking? If the rotor squeeks all the time I would look at bearings or possibly something rubbing against the rotor. If it is intermitantly, it can be any number of things. Off the top of my head bearings going bad, shocks getting old and not traveling smoothly, something loose and a metal against metal rub, rotor out of true, need grease in tierod ends or ball joints, caliper hanging up. Squeeking when braking is usually no anti squeek or shims on disk brake pads. If you have not had your disc brakes checked in a while, your indicator may be squeeking to let you know your pads will need servicing soon. Have a certified mechanic take a look. Also the sound can travel such as your serpentine belt getting old and slipping. This will have the sound travel to the wheel well. You are driving along with the window open and swear that the sound is coming from the wheel well. Hope this helps G
The brake pads have a small metal piece which makes he brake squeak. This means it's time to change your brakes. The longer you let it squeak, the more damage it does to you rotor. Still the rotor can be resurfaced or if needed replaced.
there are wear indicators on both inner front pads on this car. when the pads wear to a certain point (about 3/32") the indicator rubs on the rotor, causing a squeak. when youre driving, the torque from the axle distorts the position of the rotor in relationship to the sensor. it just so happens in this case that when youre in reverse, the rotor tends to bend toward the sensor. when in drive, it bends away.
possibly a power steering belt or worn brake rotor pad . i suggest buying a ford.
Usually because of wear, a disk brake system typically has a squealer that with contact with the rotor will make a squeaking sound telling you its time to change the brakes..some have no squealer and the sound is coming form the rivets on the pads making contact with the rotor..ie past time to change..If the brake pads have been changed or are in fine shape and there is a squeak it is because there is no anti squeal compound on the back side of the pads.
to squeak = charak (חרק) squeak (noun) = charikah (חריקה)
squeak! I'm a chipmunk-squeak- and i thinki have short fur- squeak. Hope i-squeak- helped
If you didn't turn the rotors (have them ground to give a smooth, even surface), the uneven rotor face on the new pads may squeal.
Could be many things, such as as wheel bearing or tire, but most often it is the little warning clip rubbing on the rotor indicating that your brake pads are worn.
