Check your Brake Light Switch. Some Safety systems Ford uses relies totally on that switch. maybe you parked on a hill and put the gears in a bind push car uphill and try if that fixes it then start using the thing that was put in to keep that from happening parking brake there may be an interlock switch that doesn't allow the car to be shifted out of park unless the key is in and turned to start or run on the ignition switch. try changing the fuse that controls the switch and ur brake lights On my Ford Escort '93 parts car the metal shaft where it goes into the transmission actually seized up. We broke the shifter cable trying to shift it and had to use a pry bar to shift it to drive. I moved off front yard where it had been for sale for weeks , then junked it after stripping parts since town zoning was bugging us. There is a way to manually by-pass the electric switch tho, there is a little cover over a tiny slot to the right of the shifter on the black plastic top trim, you pry that off and stick in a flat bladed screwdriver straight down and push to unlock the electric switch, thus allowing you to shift to neutral were you can start the car, then switch to drive or reverse. == I have a '93 Ford Escort LX 1.9 that will not shift out of park without first starting the car and then applying the brake and then shifting out of park. Usually a '93 ford escort has on it what is called a shift-interlock solenoid.
either alternator or wrong size battery
On a 2001 Ford Escort : Both the 2.0 liter SOHC and the 2.0 liter DOHC four cylinder engines come with a ( around 192 * Fahrenheit engine cooling thermostat ) But they are DIFFERENT PART NUMBERS

To replace the heater core of a Ford Escort, all years, the dash has to come out. This is a job even the most veteran mechanics will cringe at. Take it somewhere to get it done.
You can access the brake lights through the cargo compartment of your 2001 Ford Escort. Take hold of the brake light connector. Push the connector in and turn at the same time. The connector will come out. Take hold of the lightbulb, push in and turn at the same time. Reverse the process to install the new lightbulb.
The cam shaft sensor on a 1999 ford escort is on the intake side of the engine just below the intake manifold. The intake manifold has to come off to take the CS sensor off.
1999 ford escort zx2. Won 't come out of park after starting. Any way to bypass possible switches to get to shop?
The spark plug gap for a 1996 Ford Escort with a 1.9L engine should be between .052 and .056 inches. Spark plugs come preset, however, and do not need any adjustments.
I have a 96 Ford Escort LX. I need to replace the vent and the fuel intake rubber hose that come from the gas tank. Can you tell me what size both hoses are?
Did that only come with one engine? might they be different? Yes the 3.0 non dohc.
trunk releaseThe 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 did not come equipped with an interior trunk release. The only way to open the trunk remotely for this year was by using the remote control key fobs, if equipped. Ford added this feature to the ZX2 the following year.
you get your best friend and stick it up the anal cavity but only if its ok with them
perhaps it is water from the air conditioner, sometimes the drain hoses come loose.
drain transmission fluid and take off transmission pan and looks like a kidney and pull downward and should come out easily. and make sure to tighten bolts in a cross pattern
It is known as a Ford G5M 5-speed manual transaxle. That is the only one, the SR series of Escort ZX2 used the same transaxle with a Centerline street/strip type clutch.
It's the brake switch. It tells your break lights to come on.
you get a pair of pliers and jiggle it out and turn the wheel left and right and it should come out
Yes sir, they come stock on all 1.9 EFI HO from 87-90
Replace the gasket on the transmission pan and insect the seals on the transmission where your driveshafts come out
I'd be looking at a faulty headlight or stalk switch.
Most likely either the switch or the motor is defective.
Yes it does. The whole dash has to come out of the car. Denise
