She was second in succession to the throne (after Mary) and therefore an attractive marriage prospect for ambitious nobles. This was especially dangerous since Edward was a minor and England rules by regents.
Her flirtation with Edward's uncle Thomas Seymour brought suspicion on her.

The problem was that she returned home and Elizabeth feared her marrying a catholic prince (who would then have an excuse to claim the throne of England and invade) or even a catholic Englishman (who might starts a rebellion against her).
