they had a problem because many of them were different and every one wanted everyone to be just like them. So this created a sense of differenchiality (dif-er-in-chi-al-ity) among colonists. People started moving around this great country to find other people who were like them. But when the revolutionary war came along we bonded together and fought as one.

My guess: How the land was bought, or the purpose of the area. For example: Pennsylvania was bought by a Quaker named Will Penn and Georgia was use to exile criminals for the indians and Spanish to kill off.

Or like Latin America, they were united but they didn't really identify with one another until the war for independence.
