The only noise a solenoid can make is a "click" when it is engaged. The solenoid is just an electrically operated switch that allows you to control a large amount of current by applying a relatively small amount of current. If you are hearing a "whirring" sound, it's probably the starter that is not engaging the flywheel. There are only 3 possibilities: 1. The starter bendix is not functioning properly. I believe that model Ford uses a bendix on the starter. It's a mechanism that engages the starter to the flywheel when you use the starter and disengages the starter when you stop so that the starter doesn't spin while the engine is running. 2. The starter is not aligned properly or you have the wrong starter. 3. There is a worn place on your flywheel/flexplate making a space where the starter can't engage. If you suspect that, next time the engine won't start like that, pull the starter and examine the gears on the flywheel/flex plate. If it's worn or you have missing gears you'll need to find a replacement. solenoid should only make a clicking sound not a whirring sound most fords however , have a solenoid on the starter and also one under the hood check solenoid under the hood' if that is not the problem, then u have either stripped teeth on the starter gear, or stripped teeth on flywheel
There is no such thing as a "ponatic".
Wiring diagram of what component?
my zafira 55 plate its making a whiring noise in 3 4 and 5 gear
check all the whiring check all the internal gaskets and when it dies pull the codes fron m the computer check all the whiring check all the internal gaskets and when it dies pull the codes fron m the computer
Possibly the wheel bearing, if it makes a whiring noise when you accel. Or cv-axel, if it sounds like its grinding.
Assuming you mean over the radio or other electronic devices (such as your GPS or cell phone), electrical interference. You probably have a less than phenomenal ground somewhere.
Check the idler pully.
check to see if the fuel pump is turning on its electric and located inside the gas tank put your ear next to the tank and have someone turn the key on there should be a whiring noise if not either the pump is bad the fuse is shot or the fuel shut off switch is trippedThere are way too many variables to give you an answer. Are the plugs getting spark? Are the firing chambers getting fuel and is it getting there at the right time? Is the air cleaner clean and is the exhaust pipe open (letting air through)? You require three things to fire an engine. Fuel - Air (mixed with the fuel in the proper mixture) - and Spark. If you have all three and the engine is properly timed, it will run.
Most likely it is a bad wheel bearing. Also, try checking the tightness of the hub nuts. Loose nuts are a sign of bad bearings. My driver side came loose and the whiring noise would start and become more rapid and louder as I increased the speed. I replaced the wheel bearing and that was the end of it.
The grrr noise you hear should be more like a whiring, this is because the reverse gear is a straight cut gear, while all the other gears are helical ( 1st ,2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th) when two straight cut gears meet there is more noise present due to the way the gears connect, as the reverse gear uses several small gears to change a clockwise motion into a anti-clockwise motion.
your car will become very difficult to steer. now that also could be that you need power steering fluid, so check your fluid levels first...add more if needed, if it is still hard to turn the wheel on your car (very stiff), and there is a whiring noise, it's probably time to change the power steering pump. check for a refurbished on first, brand new should be your last resort, especially if it's an older car.
I have a 95 f250 5.8 gas engine that has duel fuel tanks my truck has in tank pumps that are not cheap so shop around for a good price so what you'll have to do is drop the tank or tanks first thing I would do is turn the key to the on position if you hear a whiring sound the pumps not bad check the emergency shut off to make sure it hasn't tripped its down on the pass side kick panel also check the fuel pump relay/fuses if you have dual tanks the tank select switch or the under body solenoid that switchs tanks could be dirty do a little research on this and you will save yourself alot time and money because this fix could become kinda pricey if you just start r&rin parts you out one other thing drain the tank or tanks before you remove them there gonna weigh 150-200lbs if full really play it safe drain then put some water in them because your gonna wanna clean the tank/tanks before you put new pump(s) in and remember it is gasoline so if you need light doing this job use a flash light
