Why would a 1992 Mercury Topaz sputter and die after you step on accelerator after pulling from a stop when the engine is not cold and the gas is at various levels otherwise it drives fine?

I have the same problem. I have been told to replace the trottle plate sensor ($25) and it would stop doing that. Anybody need a trottle plate sensor? I have a new one that did not fix my problem. I understand the Ford Tempo is the same POS this thing is. If they found that problem the fix will be the same.
