Do your brake lights work? Possible problem: -Brake Light Fuse -Brake Switch -Solenoid Can you hear a click from the shifter area when you have the key on and push on the brakes? If you cant hear the click then something could be wrong with the solenoid or the brake light switch. Check your brake lights, do they work? If the cable was hard to move and now cant be moved then it maybe bad. Open the fuse box and see if there is a fuse for the stoplight circuit. If not check under the hood. You probably have a stupid short circuit somewhere causing this. Check for 12 volts into and out of the brake light switch. Then trace the 12-volt power. (The shift lock and the brake light switch are one and the same.)
There are a couple of reasons why a 1998 Honda Accord may be stuck in park. The immobilizer system may need to be replaced or the transmission is having problems.
look in the owners manual they tell you how to release it also you need to step on the brake to release it it is a safety thing
a solenoid is getting stuck, and a bump releases it
My 1998 Honda Accord LX was getting stuck intermittently in Park. I found that the switch that turns on the brake light when you press the bake pedal was going out. This switch is $32.00 at any Honda dealer and most importantly YOU can change it yourself. Ironically, that same switch activates the gear shifter pin that lets you take it in and out of gear.
Change your fuel sending unit.
no there is no switch if it gets stuck u might want to check the connections on the motor and also see if it is seized up... my belt got stuck too i just replaced the whole assembly.
Hit it with a big hammer
Heater core is stopped up or thermostat is stuck open.
Adjust or replace the brake light switch.
If you are referring to the brake light then the brake light switch is stuck.
Defective seat belts should be replaced (never repaired) with ones available from the dealer only. Anything else puts your passengers and yourself in unneccesary danger.
It is illegal to repair brakes by an average person take the vehicle to a qualified person.
