The car will start and run poorly in the limp mode and the check engine light will illuminate.
1999 Chevy lumina, won't start, security light comes on ,can jump the starter but motor will only run for a short time , strong battery ? tried different keys , no good ? help
One reason a 1993 Chevy Lumina may turn over but not start could be the battery. It may also be the spark plugs.
probably your security system . Search google for "Bypass GM Vats Security"
A 1997 Chevy Lumina with a 3.1 that will not start, turns over, and doesn't spark; most likely has a defective ignition system. The coil may be damaged or wire providing power could be damaged.
Try adding more gas
Turn ignition on but do not start engine, depress accelerator to the floor three times within 5 seconds, oil change light should flash 5 times, oil change light is reset if you did this correctly.
your key is probably wore out and tumblers are not moving
Most oxygen sensors are either on the exaust headpipe just after the manifold or on the manifold. I don't know where it is exactly on the Lumina but that is where you should start looking.
Install a manual gauge to check actual pressure or try Replacing oil sending unit
If there is no check engine light illuminated, start with the basics like a good tune up.
when i got into the car to start it it wouldn't even try nothing it had power to everything else and a new battery it just flashed security what can i do to disarm the security system
Turn the ignition on but don't start the car, press the accelerator rapidly 3 times in less than 5 seconds, if you do it correctly, the change oil light will be reset, if it does not work, try it again until it does. I have used this on both of my wife's lumina's (both a '98, and a 2000) as well as my '96 Caprice.
Check your fuses
on my 98, its under the wiper fluid tank
Turn key on,DO NOT START then push the gas pedal all the way down to the floor 3-times. Then turn key off and then start the engine. Light should flash and then go out.
Could be the starter.
Turn ignition on (do not start engine), depress the accelerator to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds, change oil light should flash 5 times, done.
crank sensor or the board the coil bank bolts to
i would have the coil packs tested
Could be you need a new fuel idle motor. Or you need new spark plugs
put your truck to the run position and press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times then turn it off. then start it up and it should flash then disapeer
it is due a service and the garage can reset the light
there is a plug in under the dash the bottum row take a jumper wire from the first on the left to the third them turn your key on your light will flash once and then start giving you codes drive safe
Run a "compression test" to see if the engine overheated and warped the head.
