I had the same problem in my 91 r/t. I found out my clutch and pressure plate were junk. But before you replace the clutch, there is an adjustment you can make under the dash on the clutch master cylinder. There is a lock nut that you loosen and turn the master cylinder shaft right or left. Its supposed to adjust your free travel on your clutch pedal. Try that first. ********************* Assuming your fluid levels are OK, another possibility is that your master cylinder is trashed. You can buy the seal kit to rebuild it yourself, or have a shop rebuild or replace it for you. When I had this problem, replacing both my master and slave cylinders solved the problem.atag

How do i adjust the clutch pedal on a 1992 stanza it won't return?

I had it happen to me; had to replace the slave cylinder due to a leak, and the master cylinder is also leaking slightly, so it may need to be replaced shortly. Make sure the clutch line has enough brake fluid in it (you can check levels and fill it under the hood near the driver. Hope this helps. Why would a 1988 Chevy K2500 4x4 clutch pedal go to the floor and return but not disengage the clutch?

IT is low on fluid or the clutch cylinder is bad or the slave cylinder on the transmission bell housingAnswerOR the pressure plate colasped-OR linkage is broke - but only if the slave cylinder is moving. AnswerUpon further inspection I have found out that I have a leaking steel line from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder. Thanks again for the replys!!!! What if the pedal is pumped and the pressure returns then works properly? could this be from low fluid or something to do with the reservoir or a leak in the line?

Clutch pedal won't return 2000 Nissan maxima?

sounds like your slave cylinder is bad or your clutch, find your clutch fluid reservoir and see if its full ,if not look for a leak if there is a leak most likely that's the problem and needs replacing.

92 Toyota Ex cab truck clutch sticking on the floor when pressed suggestions?

First make sure the pedal itself is not getting hung up on anything, ie. the floormat, or the carpet. Next if you look where the pedal mounts to the firewall of the truck there should be a return spring that reaches from the framework of the mounting setup for the pedals to the pedal itself. If that is in place then you must address a hydraulic issue. Make sure the slave cylinder mounted on the transmission is extending properly when clutch is depressed. If the slave cylinder does not, the master cylinder, a broken line, or the slave cylinder itself would be the culprit. If the the slave cylinder checks out, try putting the vehicle in gear with the clutch stuck down. If you can do so without your foot on the clutch I would think the throwout bearing/pressure plate assembly is binding and not forcing the clutch fork back to return the clutch. If this is the case then you're looking at a clutch replacement.

How do you know what is broken on a 93 Nissan sentra clutch pedal wen it wont returnit will engage but it wont return by its self?

Clutch is sticking to the floor of your 1998 Honda civic only sometimes?

The clutch sticks to the floor sometimes if the pedal does not return to pressure plate, which has metal fingers arranged concentrically. YouÊneed to check the master clutch cylinder container to see if the fluid has all leaked out.

Your 944 1985 4-cylinder clutch has to be pulled halfway up after shifting?

The clutch pedal has an assist spring and return spring. The assist spring tension must be adjusted to create a balance point at which the clutch pedal will over center and return to the fully disengaged position. It is also possible that the system may have air or the push rod attached to the pedal may be out of adjustment.

Clutcing gear does not engage?

You don't say symptoms or how/when occurred (pre/post crash/engine out/clutch change) etc Firstly, find out from your dealership service department what amount of movement of the slave cylinder actuator rod there should be. If yours matches, hydraulic system fine. If movement too short then check behind clutch pedal and end of slave cylinder for leaks, check metal and flexible hose for damage. If slave cylinder actuator slow to return or clutch pedal very hard to press then flexihose could have internal collapse. If new clutch fitted, in rare cases can cause master cylinder rubbers to fail

The brake is sticking down and wont return and the master cylinder brake booster wheel cylinders shoes and pads have all been replaced and the lines bleed rightly with no leaks Any ideas?

How do you bleed the master clutch cylinder on a 1991 Trooper?

AnswerBleed the slave, not the master.Bench bleed the master, that's what those hoses are for with the instructions in the box your part came in. The same box need to return the core.
