It sounds like you may need either (a) a new thermostat (b) a new radiator pressure cap, (c) the temperatiure sensor sending unit is disconnected from the wire - or, (d) you need a new temp guage My bet is either on the disconnected sensor wire OR a new thermostat is needed.
Because it is a Pontiac. Sorry, man.
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Yes, there is a fuse for this. It should be labeled INST.
temperature gauge not working can be caused by a bad temp sensor in engine, a bad gauge in dash, or a bad fuse
Temperature gauge not moved and the fan's always are working
There is 2 coolant sensors. 1 is for the temperature gauge and the other is for the computer to tell it what fuel mixture is needed.
check the power to gauge and the temperature sensor (tps). if no power broken wire or short to ground. if power to both areas bad gauge.
drop the gas tank and change the sending unit
If the temperature gauge is not working, one thing it could be besides the gauge itself is a blown fuse. Another possibility is a loose or broken wire on the gauge.Ê
It depends on the setpoint of the thermostat.
sounds like your water pump ain't pumping, don't drive it till it is!. could be as simple as a new fan bewlt or might even need a pump
To fix the gas gauge on the 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, the steps will vary depending on the problem. First, check the fuses for the instrument panel to see if they are all working. Next, check the float in the gas tank to see if that is bent or damaged. The fuses and float can be replaced if necessary.
