No, and it isn't lag. I'll make a short version of what I'm saying at the bottom. You'll know where it is. FPS ( Frames per second), is how many frames you get per each second (obviously). You may call it "lag", but it isn't really lag. Lag is when your ping (reaction time of your internet), grows extremely high. The lower the ping, the better. Now back to your FPS. the speed of how many frames you get per second, is impacted by your graphics card, RAM, and your processors. Now obviously if you get low on memory minecraft will either not work or semi-work. In fact you can't really do much since your computer is filled up, but don't worry about that. What you should do is get a whole new upgrade. I suggest a decent pc, such as this one

That Computer ^ can run Minecraft a high settings, and get around 60 fps which is as much as you need, It costs around 600+ shipping, but it's the best pre-made PC for a low cost. You could also upgrade few parts of the PC I mentioned, if you aren't able to make a custom made ones.
The best computers are custom made, and they tend to be cheaper than other pre-made ones. If you know someone who can help you make a computer, then you are set. Also don't buy the Alienware crap. It overheats way too much, and it is overhyped. It's like the Victoria Secrets of PC's. Don't buy it. It's just a expensive heap of melting garbage.

No upgrading your memory won't do a thing, unless your hard drive is full. It is not lag, it's your fps. You can change this by buying a better computer. If you are on a budget here is a link for a cheap, yet good computer. This can run Minecraft at high settings with good FPS. also lag is when your internet can't catch up to the server, or the server has a problem so you can connect as well. Don't buy Alienware, it is a waste of money. You can buy/build a better computer cheaper. I suggest custom made one's if you aren't on a budget.
