All things, "good" or "bad"/"evil", have repercussions. For example, the Green Revolution in the 1970s prevented the starvation and malnutrition of billions of people. This has caused the global population to continue to rise past 7 billion today with all the additional pressures associated with more people.
As such, cures for our leading killers, will be a good thing, but still have unintended consequences.
