Yes. It would do a good job.
the big block will bolt right to the small block motor mounts but they do make big block motor mounts that you can buy and install on the 66, it lets the engine sit a little lower and further to the drivers side.
If it is a V8 it will be a 4.6L motor, it is niether it is a modular engine and they are not classified in the usual big block, small block engine sizes. It is just it.
small block and big block motor mounts are the same, so you should be able to take V8 motor mounts from most any Chevy engine bay.
327/275 and 300hp, 8 degrees btdc.
I would guesstimate (without exhaust manifolds) 350 lbs. that depends on which engine. a small block like a 327 would be around 400 pounds. a big block like the 454 would be around 550
The small plugs, on both sides of the engine block, at the rear edge of the motor mounts. A pita to drain. You have to remove the motor mounts.
It sounds like you want to know how to change the engine in a 1970 Chevy truck from a small block to a big block. If that is the case; there is no difference in the mounting of the engine to the transmission or motor mounts. The exhaust system will need to be changed, and the small block radiator might not be big enough to handle the extra heat made by a big block when it's being worked. (such as on a hot day or pulling a heavy load)
The GMC motor with block casting number 8970010 is typically associated with the 5.7L (350 cubic inch) small-block V8 engine. This engine was commonly used in various GMC and Chevrolet vehicles during the 1980s and early 1990s. It is part of the Gen I small-block family, known for its versatility and performance in trucks and cars alike.
no
"The v8 350 is a small block Chevrolet motor.....................it became a big block at 396cubic inches......so anything smaller is a "small" block" this is a little misleading. a 350 is indeed a small block. a 396 is indeed a big block. but you can have a small block that is (internally..cubic inch wise) actually larger than a big block. for example GM made a 400 cubic inch small block. internally it is a larger engine than a 396, but the outer dimensions of the 396 are larger than the 400 small block. and the external dimensions and cylinder head design are what make a small block a small block, and a big block a big block. a small block engine simply has a physically smaller block...a big block is called a big block because it's block is bigger than that of a small block.
One can purchase a Chevrolet small-block engine from the original manufacturer or your local car dealer. One can also purchase a small-block engine from eBay.
That would be a big block. If you are referring to the diesel engine, it is based on the Oldsmobile rocket block, and shares nothing with the engines usually referred to as big block or small block.
