You've got a 1996 Saturn SL 4 cylinder 5 Speed won't go into gear when car is running Shifts fine when engine is off you'd even settle for a picture of how this system works?

this mean that the cluch is not working properly... if you have noticed that while driving that when you push on the gas and the car "revs" a little before it actually goes any faster the cluch may need replacing... if not the cluch cable may have slipped an needs to be adjusted...

Yes, very much so. If you can check via a code reader which cylinder is misfiring try swapping the plug in that cylinder to a different cylinder and see if the misfire shifts with it. Failing that it could be a cool pack or ignition lead at fault.

Sounds like an airlock. You could try bleeding the brakes the old fashioned way but with the engine running so servo/power brake pressure shifts the airlock.
