You bought a 86 El Camino with a 350 high performance engine 390hp installed you did not receive any paperwork regarding the engine Is there any way to properly identify an engine?

on the 350 Chevy Block all you do is look at the Serial number or ID Code on the Engine Block i think it should be location in back or front I forgot where location. once you found it. go to Chevrolet dealer or Auto part store ask them more detail on that motor. I hope this help. the block numbers are on the top of bell housing flange top side driver, hard to read if motor is installed. number code top of block pass side behind altyernator just under head will tell you what car the engine was installed in, this is the number stamped in when factory knows what car or truck it is going in. its called suffix code. if you have it you can look it up.
